From childhood passion to fieldsports advocate and writer

Mary Skipwith is a passionate fieldsports enthusiast and freelance writer for The Field magazine, where she has contributed notable articles like "Learning from the Best" and "Female Shooting Syndicates: How to Get Involved".

Her lifelong connection to fieldsports began as a child, helping her father by plucking pheasants, a task she found fascinating rather than off-putting. Although her early opportunities to join shoots were limited, her interest persisted, and she eventually became involved as a shooter in her twenties.

Mary has a deep appreciation for the camaraderie and enthusiasm of women in shooting groups and encourages newcomers to fieldsports.

Through her writing and personal experiences, Mary continues to support and inspire others, particularly women, to feel confident and welcome in the fieldsports community.
