My name is Lucy, I’m the owner and managing director of the brand, country life isn’t just a lifestyle for me – it’s in my blood. Growing up I was immersed in all aspects of country living, from stalking and shooting to beating and picking-up. But it wasn't always easy. In a male-dominated industry, I often found myself fighting to be seen and heard. People would raise their eyebrows in surprise when they saw me handling a gun, assuming I was just holding it for someone else. But those challenges only fuelled my determinisation.
One pivotal moment occurred when a close friend expressed interest in joining me beating. From that first day, she was hooked, but struggled to find clothing that was both functional and made her feel confident. That’s when it hit me – there needs to be a channel for women's shooting, outdoor pursuits and country clothing.
And so, an idea was born. I had the pleasure of collaborating closely with Sorrel, On The Peg Clothing founder, in shaping the brand. However, as her work and family commitments intensified, I assumed ownership of the brand - alongside my two spaniels!
Our mission is simple yet profound: to empower women who participate in outdoor pursuits by providing them with stylish, functional, and empowering clothing. We want our pieces to not only serve a purpose but also enhance the journey of every women who wears them. That’s why we’re incredibly selective about the brands we stock. Each one is handpicked by myself, ensuring they meet our standards of quality, functionality and align with the brand ethos.
But our journey doesn’t stop there. We’ve had the privilege of featuring some truly inspiring guest blogs from amazing women who share our passion for outdoor pursuits. We’ve also sponsored ladies’ days, fostering a sense of community and support.
